Description

On consignment we have a 1986 Alvarez Yairi DY45 dreadnought acoustic guitar (one of two in stock right now), made in Japan at the workshop of the famed luthier Kazuo Yairi. Described in the original catalog as a “Vintage Dreadnought”, it has a dark mahogany finish with a deep amber burst and a touch of bear clawing in the Canadian spruce top.  It has had it’s tuners replaced with Gotoh tuners, and comes in a modern Alavarez DC-1 hard shell case (a $150 case) snug as a bug, otherwise original with no electronics installed. This guitar is in solid good to very good condition. No abuse, big dings or rash. Has been played and shows some scratches and dents, but overall cosmetically very satisfying.  Excellent fret and fingerboard health, plus excellent playability with a string action of 2.1 mm at the 12th fret (top of fret crown to bottom of string). These Alavarez Yairis from this time period, if you know, you know . . . they represent a very well made guitar for a reasonable price tag. Call for details or appointment, 828-253-2003.
